Douglas A-26 Invader model airplane plan

Douglas A-26 Invader

Comet Industries Corp's Douglas A-26 Invader

The Douglas A-26 Invader (designated B-26 between 1948 and 1965) is a twin-engine light bomber and ground attack aircraft that was built by Douglas Aircraft Company during World War II which also saw service during several major Cold War conflicts. A limited number of highly modified United States Air Force aircraft served in Southeast Asia until 1969. It was a fast aircraft capable of carrying twice its specified bomb load. A range of guns could be fitted to produce a formidable ground-attack aircraft.

The Comet brand model airplane kits were one of the leaders in stick and tissue model airplane kits and the details in this plan clearly show why. Depending on where you look and who is writing the descriptive narrative this model airplane is either a static display model or a free flight rubber powered model. These plans don't show any accommodation for rubber power however a clever model builder could implement that quite easily. The 30-inch wingspan makes for a quite large stick and tissue free flight model and if the builder limits the weight it probably is a very good free flying airplane. With a very small power system this might even fall into the caps RC category.
