Olympic 650 model airplane plan

Olympic 650

RCModeler Magazine's Olympic 650

The "Olympic 650" is Lee and Tim Renaud's design for a 72" wingspan "little brother" to their 99" Olympic II sailplane. Kitted by Airtronics starting in the early 1980s, the Oly 650 featured rudder/elevator controls, a flat bottom airfoil, and high quality balsa, spruce, and plywood parts. The Renauds designed the plane as suitable for beginners to build and fly, and options are shown on the plans for .049 glow and electric propulsion options. Although no longer available as a kit, the Oly 650 is an easy-building sailplane that would be a superb e-glider with a brushless electric motor, lithium-polymer batteries, and a folding propeller for decreased drag in the glide mode.
