Super Sinbad Berkeley 1943 model airplane plan

Super Sinbad Berkeley 1943

Super Sinbad Berkeley 1943

The Super Sindbad was designed in 1941 or 1942 (depends on where you look) by Henry Struck and kitted by Berkeley models has a 62" wingspan. and weighs less than 20 oz. all up, covered and with micro radio gear. The original Sinbad was designed by Henry Struck in 1941. Al least that's what the "Sinbad the Sailer" plan states. Bill Effinger had the bad habit of crediting himself with designs from other people.

The plan sheet contains adequate instructions how to put this Super Sindbad together. On reading some of the online reviews the "tow control" again is arguably a good thing on towline launches. Also reading reviews wings strengthening is highly recommended when using a towline launching. It seems that hand launching from a hill, slope etc. is preferable. This model airplane has been around for a lot of years. I worked hobby shop is a junior high school and built one for display hanging from the ceiling. With today's balsa being a better grade building the Super Sindbad from scratch using these plans would be relatively easy. Several companies do offer kits of this Super Sindbad that are laser cut – I was born too soon!

I've attached a video that runs less than 2 minutes that will give us an idea of the size of the Super Sindbad and the hand launch and gave me the urge to build one of these.
